About Me

Meet Your Photographer.

Hi! I'm Shayla, a 30 year old photographer. I have had a camera constantly in my hand since my 13th birthday when I received my first old vintage film camera. I went on to take every high school and college photography class I could and have worked as a high-end jewelry photographer for years as I have also been working up my portrait photography business. I can't remember a time before photography became my life. When I'm not behind the camera or editing photos I love spending time with my husband and kids, or cuddled up on the couch reading a cozy book, in my garden, or re-watching Hamilton the musical for the 324th time.

My absolute favorite thing about portrait photography is hearing my clients reactions after they receive their finalized gallery. I pride myself in working with them to get the best photos that showcase them. A combination of posing, fun prompts, and laughs. Once I edit them to bring them to life it feels like it all equals pure magic!

Lavender Ridge Photography is named after my two children Lavender & Ridge.

Surprise Proposals

These are so fun to do because I get to practice my super secret spy skills. I go undercover from a distance with my telephoto zoom lens. I then get to pop out to meet your new FIANCE and we do a lovely engagement portrait session at the end. My favorite part is when the gallery is finished and all of the photos come together to tell a story. The surprise, the joy, the YES, and the love.
